In ED 582: Strategies for Empowering Students to Become Active, Responsible Learners, you’ll complete assignments designed to deepen your understanding of how to use On Course strategies for empowering your students. The course is offered in the fall semester, and all work is submitted from your home or college computer using BlackBoard, the Internet learning platform. Here’s a brief description of prerequisites for the course and each assignment within the course.  Student who enroll will receive a detailed description of how to complete each assignment successfully.

Course Assignments

PREREQUISITE: Attend an On Course I Workshop in its entirety (21 hours--you need not have taken the optional night session). To maximize learning, you are advised (but not required) to enroll in ED 582 within one year of completing an On Course I Workshop.

Write and submit to your instructor a Schedule of Personally Chosen Deadlines for your course assignments. All assignments must be completed by the end of the semester in which you enroll.

Write and post on your BlackBoard home page a Personal Introduction.

Write and submit to the instructor Journals 1-10 from the most recent edition of On Course: Strategies for Success in College and in Life (100 Points-10 points each).

Write and submit Article #1 on the outcomes, experiences, and evaluation of implementing one On Course strategy. Follow the format provided in the course Assignments document. (100 points)

Write and submit Article #2 on the outcomes, experiences, and evaluation of implementing a second On Course strategy. Follow the format provided in the course Assignments document. (100 points)

Write and submit Article #3 on the outcomes, experiences, and evaluation of implementing a learning-centered strategy for empowering students to become active, responsible learners from a source other than the On Course workshop, book, or facilitator’s manual. See the course bibliography for possible sources of strategies or design your own. Follow the format provided in the course Assignments document. (100 points) 

Write and post on the BlackBoard DISCUSSION BOARD Feedback regarding Article posted by your Success Team members.  Follow the format provided in the course Assignments document. (100 points)
